The final round of Men’s Pennants was played at our club today in cool, windy but fine conditions.
Our teams were:
A Team: Joe Wnek (s), P Gardner, S Ball, M Howse.
B Team: N Turnbull (s), I Wenham, B Thompson, O Feaunati.
We were down to play Paraparaumu Beach who were in the lead in the competition with Waikanae Blue being a close second so the results of our games could have influenced the final results.
After the morning’s play, Joe’s team had won their game against the Paraparaumu four skipped by Rex Holmes, 19-15 and Neville’s team had lost their match against Jim Martin’s four 13-15.
The reverse games played in the afternoon saw both our teams start well but fail to maintain their good form, Joe’s team losing 14-20 and Neville’s 10-22.
It appears that the final of the Pennants went to Paraparaumu Beach with Waikanae Blue, second.
