The Artifiicial Green. On Saturday 4 September a large team of PD workers supervised by the Corrections Dept helped a small team of our members supported by Graeme Bagrie Contracts take up and dispose of the Astrograss green. Some of the material was sold to the Takaro BC of Palmerston North, some to local residents and the remainder to our members for various home uses. A big thanks to our helpers, new member Bill Clelland, Ian Upston, Murray Griffin, Ken Hayward and above all our project manager Neville Turnbull. A job very well done. Thanks too to Paul Gardner and Stafford Ball who did a lot of work prior to the day. OPur only real issue on the day was a long delay while we waited for a replacement after the hydaulics of our contractor’s crane threw in the towel early in the day.
We expect Dales NZ to be on site to begin work in about two weeks time.
In the meantime the work on painting the clubhouse (once again with the help of Corrections Dept) proceeds rapidly.
