It has been an interesting week.
On Tuesday we had a full green for the roll-up and it was GREAT to play on a green that was true and the bowls were running at a good speed. All who played on it commented on how great the cotula green was, so, thanks to all involved with getting it running to this standard. We are lucky to have members who take an interest in maintaining the green and we should appreciate the time and effort they put in.
Today, Murray, who was rolling the green before play, had a problem when the chain in the roller broke. Thankfully, it has been repaired and is OK to use again.
What was really great to see today was the play of one of our newer bowlers. He was drawn to play with me so I saw first hand his efforts on the green.
Allan is a keen bowler, but having a finger that gets in the road, he often finds it difficult to get the Jack into play correctly and getting his bowls where he wants them to end up.
Not today. It was as though all his problems had disappeared. End after end he was drawing close to the jack and it was just wonderful to see the change and the pleasure he was getting out of his game.
And that is what we all at times experience; days when things just wont work as we would like and occasionally, everything seems so easy. Allan experienced the latter today
His game was just great today, the green was great and Allan’s bowls were great. I bet he is looking forward to his next day on the green.
