Not the best day to play ‘summer’ bowls; grey sky, wind and drizzle – all played their part in making it not very pleasant.
The men’s games were played on the cotula green and the women on the new Dales green.
Some very good bowls were played throughout the day, the leads as usual in Pairs, playing an important role in their games. Each team was drawn to play three games and in Noel and my case, we encountered excellent leading, especially from Omeka and Alan Shanks. These two players were using different makes of bowls, each of which took a different line to the other, but both players took the green that worked for their bowls – Omeka taking the wide green and Alan a very narrow line but both achieved great results. In our other game it was great to see Ian Upston leading with his new bowls and he would have been pleased with his efforts.
With KCBC events being held tomorrow and next weekend, our Pairs post-section games will be held on Saturday 27 November. Results can be seen on our webpage under the heading – What’s On.
Tomorrow sees the next round of Interclub, then Round 2 of Pennants on Tuesday, Rotary on Wednesday afternoon, Mixed Pairs Gala on Thursday and Horowhenua 5’s on Friday. A busy week for some bowlers. With luck, the sun will shine.

Well wrapped up for the weather – Noel Larsen

The umbrella adds colour to the day.
