Was his mother still alive and in England?? This was something that Tony Jones, our greenkeeper, has been wondering about for years after leaving her when he was a youngster during the war; living in homes, then to Australia and finally to NZ. It is only recently that he got confirmation that she certainly was.
After phone conversations, he is now on a plane flying to England to meet up with her. What a wonderful meeting it will be.
We have been able to catch up with all these events with TJ and have been aware of how much he has been looking forward to the great meeting that will take place when he arrives in England.
Last week TV3 came to the club and filmed TJ mowing the green and also met with him in our clubrooms.
Tonight, on TV3’s Campbell Live, we shared with all viewers the story and we look forward to his return when we will no doubt hear all about the reunion.
