Once again, TJ, our greenkeeper, sponsored his gala, and once again, we had a great day bowling on a superb green. It has recently been cut lower and with rolling as well, the pace of the green had some bowlers struggling to get their bowls near the Jack.
But in no time at all, the bowls appeared nearer their target and some very good games were played.
Two morning games were followed by a lunch put on by TJ with the help of some club members who were not playing today, much appreciated by all.
Another game and then it was the last round with four teams aiming to get their fourth win.
As often happens and for no obvious reason, teams can drop their last game and this was again true with two teams going down.
Results at the end of the day were:
1st -Fred Adams (s), May Thompson, Omeka – 4 wins and 24 ends
2nd – Grace Virtue(s), Bill Clelland, Jim Bagnell – 4 wins and 20 ends.
3rd – Dianne Short (s), Hazel Rose and Paul Gardner – 3 wins and 23 ends.

TJ making his speech to the players and helpers.
After the prizes had been presented, TJ and his helpers put on an evening meal for us and again this ‘went down well’ by all who stayed.
It was really a great effort by the helpers and our very special thanks go to TJ for what he had done for us all.
And just as an aside, it was I am told, a very special birthday for one of our club members who had helped in the kitchen. Your 21st Brian was it??
Best wishes for our Men’s and Women’s Fours teams who will be playing in the Champion of Champion at Raumati South. May your bowls run true.
