For one reason or another I wasn’t playing at another club today, something that is usually on my calendar. Instead, I went down to my club to take part in the roll-up but there were only enough players to have two games of triples.
We got drawn into four teams and went off to the green to then decide which rink to play on. We left plenty of space between the two games and really concentrated on our form. Quickly noted, was that the green was quite slow but after a few ends, our walking from end to end sped our bowls up.
When I heard Colin call out from the other game, I guessed that I should note how well his bowl had done and certainly it was very close to the jack. On a second glance I could see that one of his opponents had put their bowl closer, not what Colin had expected. To make things worse, the same thing happened later in their game, Colin’s bowl close but then another arriving from the opposition to take the shot.

Colin and Don deciding who had the shot.
To record such an event, I had my camera out and took a photo of Colin delivering his bowl but once I had a look at the photo, noted that he was now looking over towards our game and not following his bowl’s progress. And he smiled nicely for the camera. Not sure whether he got his bowl to where it should have ended up, but his smile was very good.
At the end of play, we sat around in the clubroom and enjoyed our day with conversation on all sorts of things, sharing the afternoon in full. Another fun day at bowls.
