Summer – Winter

For so many years, our bowling season covered only the summer months but now, with the calendar reaching May, we pause for a few hours and then continue with our game. Such is the reason we now play all year as we have both a natural cotula green but an artificial surface as well.
On Saturday we celebrated a very good past season from last September, firstly by having a roll-up on Green1 and then after greeting the Mayor, Brendan Duffy and the Centre Vice President, Warren Harding, our players who had won Championships during the season, received their awards for their efforts.

Vice President Trevor Turnbull welcomes Mayor Brendan Duffy

Our Vice President, Trevor Turnbull, made special mention of the efforts of Diana McGill who had gone on and won the Champion of Champion Junior Singles, to Alice, Lodzia, Liz and Diana for coming Runner’s Up in the Champion of Champion Women’s Open Fours, and to Gary Wylie, still a Junior, for being the semifinalist in the Centre’s Men’s Open Singles.
After speaking to us all, the Mayor with the assistance of President Hazel presented the trophies and bars to the recipients. These events have been recorded on our website and can be viewed there.
(I note that there are others events that have never been recorded there so I will work on a new way of adding them to the present system.)
After these awards had been presented, Bowls Kapiti Vice President, Warren Harding, congratulated Diana McGill for doing so well in Centre events and presented her with the following Certificates: Champ of Champs Women’s Junior Singles 2012 – 2013, Women’s WKWM representative 2012 – 2013, and Women’s Junior representative  Wanganui 2012 – 2013. Well done Diana.
And so we came to the end of another summer season and look forward  to continuing our bowling activities, now on the artificial Dales green.
