Lots for me to do during the week, not all at our club, so it is a bit of catching up re the week’s activities
On Monday, Ken Hayward and his team travelled south and played in the annual Mexted Cup. Clubs are invited to take part in this event with their selected players chosen from those who have been involved in manual work. I have heard that our club team came 2nd in the competition in a very tight finish.
The four men’s teams selected for the latest Rotary event were in action, two at Shannon and 2 at Foxton Beach. Retuning players reported that the teams playing near the Tararuas won two and lost two of their game while from the coast came their news of only dropping one game. (A modest way to tell us they had three wins!)
It seemed quite strange yesterday that there was only one woman player on our green but we soon heard that Shannon had women teams from our club taking part in their Gala. While we sat back in the clubrooms at the end of our quiet day on the green, it was good that we were able to welcome our ladies back from a lovely day.
The weather is OK today though there was a chance of showers earlier. Starting at 1.00pm at Shannon today will be the latest selection for the Horowhenua 5’s.
