Joining us as an Associate Member from the Otaki Bowling Club over the winter months was Dave Jackson and it is sad to report of his recent passing.
Today I was able to farewell Joyce Watson. For many years she played as a full member of our club and I remember so well the games and events in which we often played. Because of recent ill health, Joyce was not able to keep up her membership but I was able to call in and chat with her on past and current events. We extend our sympathy to David, her husband, and to her sister, club member Edna.
The sun was again out for our Tuesday roll-up and we were able to welcome Colin and Maria Smith, bowlers from Chacewater Bowling Club near Truro in Cornwall, England. They were here for a short stay in our town, and as bowlers, were interested in trying out our green. From their conversations during the afternoon, it was clear that they enjoyed their games and commented on how well their bowls were running on the cotula green.
Certainly a very pleasant couple and we wish them well on their remaining time in our country.
