Certainly a ‘Champion’ Day for Single’s players today.
No crowd to watch them, but still a very import event for our Colts who played to win their first Championship – Colt Singles. A look at our club’s Honour’s Boards show that the event has not taken place for some time for one reason or another. The players had to win at least two out of three games to take the title and I’m pleased to congratulate the winners, Ralda Adams and Peter Brown. We all will enjoy seeing their names taking their place on the Honour’s Boards.
Colt Singles Champions Ralda Adams and Peter Brown
The start of the Centre’s Champion of Champion Singles commenced today, Men and Womens’ events played, Open on Saturday and Junior on Sunday, weather permitting, all at the Waikanae Beach Club.
Diana McGill won her first round game, this against the Raumati player. 21-12, but went down to the Paraparaumu Beach player 10-21.
Our Men’s Singles players was Shoota Ballinger. He had a first round bye and then had a very close game against the Raumati South player but went down 19-21.
Our Junior players are scheduled for Sunday and it will be interesting to see if the weather will have cleared and make the Waikanae Beach greens available.
Diana McGill had also won our Club’s Junior Singles so she will be playing in that competition also. Joining her in the Junior competition will be Jim Bagnall, our Men’s Junior Champion. The draw indicates that both our players will be playing the Paekakariki champions.
Best of bowling to you, Diana and Jim.
