Wednesday’s Triples Galas End

gala1
Yesterday was the last of the Wednesday Winter Galas, ending in very good weather and with all rinks full.
The photo was taken later in the day;  note the lengthy shadows and the clear blue sky.
During the winter months, the weather was quite mixed and I couldn’t help but notice how well wrapped-up the players were on some of the very cold days. I think the most hardy player who was never put off by the cold was Rob. Seemed as if he didn’t need a thick jersey or coat for the cold days.
Quote noticeable on the green this winter were the number of coloured bowls being used.
Sharon showed off her newest ‘coloured’ bowls today, certainly noticeable and even worth a comment from some!

Play ended and the winners were:
1st  Shoota Ballinger, Les and Murray Judd.  3 wins, 17 ends, 33 points.
2nd  Murray Griffin, Brian Coe, Barbara Selley. 3 wins, 16 ends, 32 points.
3rd  Joe Wnek, Roy Dickson, Lodzia Wnek 2½ wins, 15 ends, 25 points.

Special thanks go to our new member, Terry Davison, who played throughout the galas and at the end of play, donated  the majority of supplies for the afternoon tea. Our thanks to you Terry.
As can be seen in the photo, Brian Cooper, and his helpers, Jan, Barbara, Alice and Pam, did a great job  preparing for the occasion.

Special close up so that we can see if Brian is doing some testing!

Once again, thanks to all who joined us on the green during the winter months, local members and as well, players from Himitangi, Foxton Beach and RSA.
