The visit to Havelock North didn’t take place today because of the weather. Neville Turnbull had arranged for a report from their club which was duly phoned through at 6.45am this morning. The cancellation message was then passed on to three committee members who then contacted the travellers on their list. Sounds easy, and it nearly was except that I couldn’t contact one couple from my list; they had decided to make sure they weren’t going to be late and had gone to the club early. They eventually found out what had happened after waiting there and being the only ones who arrived. I have heard that someone else also arrived at the appointed time but this was because she had not been called for some reason or other.
So today has been a catch up day for me. I spent a time having a look through this year’s handbook and feel Paul Skilton needs to be thanked for his efforts in putting it together and getting it printed. Having produced the handbook for a number of years some time back, I know what is involved so appreciate what Paul has done.
No doubt some errors will be noted by some people, and unfortunately that seems to be all these people can find to mention, forgetting that over 90% of the book is not only correct but looks good as well. Thanks again, Paul.
