The second group of men played today to qualify for next week’s post-section play.
After the first two rounds, only 3 of the 10 players had won both of their games, Shoota Ballinger, Brian Paquin and Rod Cotter. Three other players had no chance of qualifying having lost both their games but Graeme Brown was required to play Dennis Gee who could still qualify if he won his last game. Unfortunately for him, Graeme found his form and so now Dennis was out of contention.
Still with a chance were Paul Gardner who had to play Fred Adams, Ken Hayward to play Rob Cotter and Neville Turnbull who had Brian Paquin as his opponent.

Fred had not had a happy day after two rounds but in the early part of his last game he was scoring points and it wasn’t until the latter part of the game that Paul settled in with some very good draw play and ended up winning the game to qualify.

Ken and Rob also had a good game and Ken was happy to come out of it with a win, so we had another qualifier.
For a time in the other game, it looked as though Neville was going to fail to score as Brian was playing really well, drawing consistently. Late in the match, Neville did gain some points but this was a game that Brian had under control most of the time playing class bowls.

With nine players now qualified, the draw was made. The first round will be played between Shoota Ballinger and Ken Hayward, the others receiving a bye for this round and then will be playing as follows:
Steve Felgitscher v Joe Wnek
Brian Paquin v Paul Gardner
Omeka Feaunati v Selwyn Riwaka
Rob Cotter v winner of round 1.
Congratulations to all who made it through and we look forward to seeing both the Men’s and Women’s post section games.
