Finally we got a game of bowls played.
Monday was to be the Umpire’s Gala at Central but it it rained, Tuesday was to be Central’s monthly Men’s Gala, but it rained, Wednesday afternoon was set down for Rotary, but it rained, Thursday was club roll-up afternoon, and finally we had a fine day and we were able to play.
Another good turn out for the Corner to Corner contest, with a change of rule in the final where two rounds were played without any bowls being taken off. By the time the second round was played, a short bowl could be knocked closer and this did happen to Alice Spicer’s first bowl, making it the nearest to the corner. But this was not enough for Alice. Up came her last bowl and this was the best on the night. So we have another winner of a bottle of Grant’s Whiskey.

“These are mine,” says Alice
