Kapiti Senior Rep player John Adams and team wins Bowls Kapiti Coast Centre’s Men’s Fours. I managed to get down and watch their semi final onwards. The team was made up of lead Martin Howse, #2 Dylan Thomas (young first year bowler), father Stacey Thomas #3 ( a second year bowler) and skip John Adams. Howse struggled in the semi final, especially upwind when the green was running at 13.4 seconds. Down wind it got up to 14 seconds and suited Howse better. The semi final against team Harris from Paraparaumu was always tight and in the last four ends in the game it was Adams who pulled the team through, winning by a single point with some great drawing. In the final against the Kapiti team skipped by Ted Marshall all of the team played exceptionally well, playing some great bowls to keep in touch with Marshall. Marshall had beaten the highly fancied team from Raumati South in the other semi final by 17-7. It all come down to the last end, Marshall 1 up on the board with each team having a bowl touching each other but Marshall’s was holding shot. Adams drove with his first bowl to clean out the two bowls and now was holding 2 points for the win with one bowl from Marshall to come. Marshall played slightly heavy and narrow, it went through the head without toughing another bowl and team Adams had won by 14-13. It was a great game to watch and both teams should be proud of their performances.
I believe it’s all fours players first Kapiti Centre title in an open or champion of champion event. Well done team.
John Adams, Dylan Thomas, Stacey Thomas and Martin Howse
