One Bad End.

The finals of the Triples were played out during the day, with games full of interest as expected, .

In the morning, Christine Gardner’s team needed a win against Ann Malone so that they could qualify for post section but Ann’s team proved to be too strong, winning the game 20-8.

At the same time, Jack Willis’s team which had already qualified, tried to stop Stev’s team from qualifying.

With the score at 11 all with only two ends to play, Jack’s team dropped a 7, just one bad end, but it let Stev’s team in to play in the post section rounds.

The draw was made, and Jack had to play Stevs’s team again, (Steve Felgitscher skipping now) and a win by 16 to 5 put Steve into the final.

The other semi final was between Fred Adams and Jim Bentley and we expected a close match, but trailing 4-15, Jim’s team conceded the win to Fred.

The men’s final got underway mid afternoon and by the 7th end, Fred was leading 11-3, but then Steve picked up 8 points on the next few ends and by the 14th, they were in the lead, 15-13.

And then one bad end – with only two ends to go, Steve dropped a 5 and Fred’s team, with  a 4 on the last end, became the Men’s Triples Champions winning 22 – 15. They had played well as a team throughout the competition, with Omeka and Rex producing shots that made life difficult for their opposition.

The women’s final between Margaret MacKay and Ann Malone was also a close match and with 4 ends to go, the scores were level at 10 all.

But with only one to play, Ann’s team needed 3 points to win but dropped another point to lose 14 – 11.
