A Mini Gala was held on Tuesday afternoon as a lead up to the Melbourne Cup race and an evening meal.
Twenty four players were drawn into 8 teams and at the end of the rounds, the winners were:
1st – Ken Hayward (s), Delwyn Webb and new player Jan Dawson
2nd – Francis Wilson (s), Grace Virtue and Vern Murphy
3rd – Christine Gardner, Doris Thorn and Marion Ball
The Cup was watched by enthusiastic viewers, some more than others when they saw that their selection had won!
To end the day a meal was available for those able to stay and as well as dining, were heard to be explaining their achievements (or otherwise) on the day.
Rotary was played this afternoon at RSA and Foxton Beach and the selector, Joe Johnson, should be pleased that the teams did quite well.
At RSA, three wins and a loss, while at Foxton Beach the two teams had a draw and win each, an overall total for the club of 5 wins, 2 draws and a loss.
This coming weekend the following club players have entered the KCBC Open Singles.
