Rain Stops Play

Post Section for the Men’s Singles got started today and managed, in poor weather conditions, to complete one round.

Dave Walker won his game against Ken Hayward, Dave Scrivener, drawing well, won his game against Neville Turnbull, Murray Griffin won his game against Stafford Ball and Shoota won a tight game against Trevor Tuatara.

By the end of the games, players and markers were all very wet and the weather was showing no signs of improving, it was decided to call the rest of play off. Matches will continue on Sunday week (19th Dec) which is a day set aside for Interclub games if needed.

2010 Mens Singles

I was playing in a gala at Waitarere Beach today and we only managed to complete 3 ends of the first round. An attempt was made get the water off the green but showers kept on coming across and it was finally decided to ‘play’ the 3 other rounds by a player from opposing teams, drawing a card to decided the winner of each game. My team managed 2 ‘wins’ but Keith Galloway, Don Hutchins and Bill Clelland came out with four.  They had a ‘playoff’ against another  four winner and came off second best. Still good enough to win a Ham for Christmas.

Finally, home in the early afternoon, plenty of time for the Interclub Reserve 7’s players to get ready to meet at the clubrooms tomorrow morning at 7.30am to set off for their playing venue, Waikanae Beach!
