A wonderful day for our Champion Pairs, Ann Malone (s) and Margaret MacKay who played at Waitarere Beach today in the Champion of Champions competition. This was the continuation of last week’s games which had to be postponed because of the weather.
Our girls started first playing Kapiti (which they won) while Paraparaumu won their game against Waitarere Beach setting up the final between these two teams.
I didn’t see the game but have heard that it was a great tussle, the lead on the board changing regularly throughout the game.
Came the last end and the scores were level, what more pressure could you wish for?
All bowls delivered on the final end and It was so close a measure was called for and the win went by a couple of millimetres – to the Levin team, Ann Malone and Margaret MacKay. Great effort

The pairs played like stars, tight finish, measure on the last end and so exciting. Two very proud girls lined up for the camera!!

Congratulations also to the Central Levin team that won the Men’s Fours Champion of Champions. Our members will be pleased to see that the team included Gary Wylie who is also an Associate Member of our club and regularly joins us in our roll-ups.
For me, it was very pleasing – I well remember introducing him to the game of bowls some time back, in our Business House Bowls. Will shake your hand when I see you next, Gary.
