The Champion of Champions Triples were played today and will continue tomorrow at the Raumati South green.
The cotula green ran well and the weather was great for bowls.
In brief:-
Our women’s team, Margaret MacKay (s), Ann Malone and Alice Spicer, had a close game against the Otaki Railway team. The final end (16th) saw the scores level but our ladies were unfortunate to lose the extra end played.
Our men’s team, Ian Wenham (s), Paul Gardner and Jack Willis – filling in for Don Hutchins who was unavailable, won their first round game against the Paekakariki team but went down to the Waitarere Beach team who played consistently and proved to be just too strong.
That leaves the semi-final and final to be played tomorrow.
