Believe It

Yes, believe it, we lost our last game without scoring, 22-0

I told them I wouldn’t be writing about todays Balloted Triples Championship after such a big loss but just to show them that after all, it is just a game and not the end of the world – even though I think in some ways it was!!

The weather forecast was proven wrong to start the day – not sunny but light rain falling. The decision was made to start on time, 10.00am, and after the first game, lunch was held.

My team didn’t really do too badly but still lost our first two games.

Our last game was against one of the two winners at that stage, Brian Furness (s), Barnaby Hamid and Paul Gardner.

Paul lead extremely well and Barnaby’s bowls were never far away so we were in trouble most ends – if not, they soon solved any problems.I had noted that the game next to us in Round 2 was where we were to play our last game and it was notable that nearing the end of that game, one team had still not scored. At least they had one on the board at the end of the game, something that we couldn’t achieve. It therefore seems to me that that particular rink was made to really test players abilities, with one team dominating play – unfortunately we failed the test.

But after all, we as individual members of our team have to remember just one thing, it is only a game.

(Still very frustrating, believe me!)

And by the way, congratulations to the winners on the day:

1st – Dianne Short(s), Margaret MacKay, Diana McGill – 3 wins, 21 ends and differential 31 points.

Men’s Balloted Triples Champions:
