It seems that the key for some teams yesterday was to get a win by 1 point.
In the first post sectoion round at Waikanae where the Men’s Open Centre Triples carried on, four games were played and three were won or lost (depending on your view point, by 1 point – two at 16-15 and the other at 18-17. Certainly must have been tight games. Our qualified team skipped by Neville, was one the teams that lost by that close margin.
Still, for those that won, a pleasing moment, letting them carry on to the next round,
Certainly this result was so impressive, that our All Blacks apparently came up with the same idea; a close tight game in their final which kept all viewers tense, just waiting to see which way the cup would be handed out at the end of play.
Great stuff, All Blacks, holding on in the second half to win, also by 1 point. a relief for us all and especially as no player had to feel guilty by giving away a penalty close to the posts. That really would have been something to forget, if possible, for the rest of the player’s life.
