Today had a 9.30 am start for the Men’s and Women’s Championship Triples semi finals.
In both men’s games the wins were quite clear cut; Brian Thompson (s), Murray Griffin and Brian Cooper going down 10-19 to the team skipped by Dave Scrivener and in the other game, Ian Wenham (s), Paul Gardner and Jack Willis lost 10-22 to Fred Adams’ team.
The women’s games saw Christine Gardner’s team have a decisive win 23-4 against Susan Boxall (s), May KauKau and Jan Dawson and in the other game, Audrey Sciascia (s) Lodzia Wnek and Gwen McLauchlan went down 12-16 to Margaret Mackay’s team.
The men’s final generally had Dave Scrivener with Dave Walker and Shoota, in the lead but on the 14th end, Fred and his players – Rex Spicer and Omeka take the lead 13-12.
But as often happens after dropping a big score, the other team scored well on the next end, in this case a 4, and Dave was back in the lead 16-13. Another single on the last end saw the win go to Dave Scrivener and his team.

Christine with Joan Hayward and Marie Anstis, found the going just too tough in their final and Margret Mackay, Alice Spicer and Christine Ryan, the women’s title being won with the score at 21 – 8.
Not a big crowd watching but those present enjoyed the finals and we congratulate all who played in the two games.
