Today after the roll-up, our club’s umpire, Roy James, gave us a chance to learn about the Laws of Bowls and it was good to see some of our members took the opportunity and as well, some players from the RSA, Levin Women’s and one from Manakau also attended.
Roy had put a lot of time into the preparation of his talk, making good use of his projector to guide us through many of the laws.
Clubs are generally short of members who are prepared to take on umpiring but it is important that players are familiar with the rules of the game and understand the meaning behind them. Today was a good opportunity to do this. I’m sure that Roy will answer any further questions any bowler has about the game.
