Where Is Colin??

The scoreboard showed that 12 ends had been played – still two to go to complete the final round of 2x4x2 pairs for the summer season.

The players were ready to start the 13th end, but where was Colin?? Nowhere to be seen, but it was decided not to wait any longer, and the bowls were sent on their way.

And as if by chance, the team that should have had Colin playing, dropped four points.

So the last end came, and so did Colin, and he played this time, with three yellow bowls …. and got shots with them!

I don’t really know who eventually won the game but we did at least find out what had happened to this ‘star’ player.

For some reason, after twelve ends had been played, he thought that they had played fourteen, so he’d packed up his bowls, went and put them away and then ordered for himself a white wine.

While taking his first sip, he looked out the window and noticed that the game on his rink was still being played, and on a closer look, he noticed that there was still an end to be played. He quickly went into the locker room, grabbed three yellow club bowls and headed back to the green. Success from his hand followed, three shots to Colin …. and then it was back inside to continue with his wine. He was pleased with how well he had played with the club bowls.

Still, I think we all hope that in future, he will check the scoreboard before he leaves the green.

Certainly a lot of discussion around the table after the game as to what had happened.

We will keep our eyes on him in the future!
