A Busy Sunday

Yesterday was supposed to see the start of the Mixed Balloted Triples competition but the weather certainly put that off.

Early morning today, and it looked as though it would be again not played, but by the start time of 9.00am, though cool and gloomy and with only little drops of rain, we got under way.

Well wrapped up for the morning start.

To qualify, two games of ten ends out of three had to be won and at the end of this stage of the competition, five teams had made it.

The draw was made and this resulted in Susan Boxall’s team playing Keith West’s (the winner to play Keith Galloway’s team) and Shoota Ballinger ‘s trio to play Paul Gardner’s team.

As yet, I have not got the results of the two games played this afternoon.

Also programmed for this afternoon was “Have a Go”, a chance for people to come to bowling club’s to try out our game.

Unfortunately, the weather was such that I think people were put off  coming and trying bowls; we only had three people taking the opportunity. This doesn’t stop people coming in at any time to try the game;  if you are interested, drop in, and we will give you  a chance to find out all about the game we love.

Who knows, even very very young people could find the game just great.  Our thanks go to one of our club members for taking the opportunity to introduce the game to this young one.

A skilled bowler introducing the game to Youth.
