Today at our club, ComfitPro Bowls and other bowling equipment was on show for any interested bowlers from around the Centre.
I popped in for a short time to see what was available from the company. Australian sales manager Bernie Melville from Sydney, had set out in the clubrooms for display, the latest bowls available and as well, shoes, jackets, etc.
On the cotula green, interested bowlers were able to try out either the Dynamic or Optima bowls as well as the different sizes available. It will be interesting to hear what people thought of them and how many were sold; Neville already has a set and is using them very well in play at the club. He speaks highly of them
Back in 2007, I collected from our store room, samples of different bowls that were being used by members and as well, some bowls from the past and took a photo of them . If you click on the photo you should be able to see their makes; can you tell the oldest.
All sorts of changes have taken place over the years – certainly black was the basic colour and interesting to see how that has changed. Today I noticed a set, size 3½.
