Another day of challenges, weather, time and naturally, top bowls.
Post-section play got started at 9.30am with Martin Howse/Barnaby Hamid playing Shoota Ballinger/Trevor Turnbull. The wining combination then saw Shoota and Trevor facing Keith West and Omeka. Another win taking Shoota and Trevor into the men’s final.
The other semi-final was between Paul Gardner/Jim Adams who played Murray Griffin/Ian Upston, this match being won by Paul and Jim.
I had seen some of the earlier games but unfortunately missed the men’s final between Paul and Shoota.
I have heard that another good game with top bowls was played by both pairs but Paul and Jim took the title with a score of 17-9
Our ladies also played out their post-section games. The semi-final saw Margaret Griffin going down to Barbara Selley and this led to Barbara and her partner, Glenda Rowsell, facing Susan Boxall and Margaret Lowndes. This was also a tight game with club members watching a close match.
The final end saw the win going to Susan and Margaret, 11-8.
The weekend had seen the weather making play quite difficult yet all teams faced the conditions with skill and determination, a credit to all.
