9.30am Mix and mingle with cuppa tea / coffee at Central BC.
10.00am First guess speaker Brendan Hannan (New Zealand Sports Turf Institute – Palmerston North).
Subject: Winter maintenance – As a group we will inspect their natural greens and Brendan will give his thoughts on the condition and recommend winter maintenance. His talk will include question time.
Levin Bowling Club – 61 Weraroa Road Levin
Noon Lunch at Levin BC.
1.00pm Second guest speaker Brett Jenkins (Managing Director, Super Turf Ltd – Auckland)
Subject: Green maintenance, all year round.
2.00pm Discussion on whether there will be a demand for four field days a year, approximately every three months. Suggestions on how you guys would like the Kapiti Centre to support our greenkeepers.
3.00pm Field day is scheduled to finish.
I think the main focus of having field days is to create a collaborative group resulting in; increased knowledge, camaraderie and foster the development of potential new green keepers. This should flow onto higher quality greens and pride in our Centre’s playing surfaces both natural and artificial.
