Another title for Levin Bowls

The highly experienced team of Neville Turnbull (skip), Kumara Selby (#2) and (lead) Daryl Johnson won the Kapiti Centre’s Men’s Triples this weekend.  In the final today they beat the composite team of Sam Kwok, B Ashman & Richard Graham.  In the 18 end final the scores were even at different stages.  After 5 ends the score was 4 all, then equal on 10 points after 10 ends, 12 all at 12 ends and again after 14 ends 13 all.  Team Turnbull got a four on the second last end which gave them a safe lead of 8 points going into the final end, finally winning 20-15.  While the final was tight until the last couple of ends said Daryl Johnson, we had some close calls on the way getting to the final.  Our skip Turnbull won us two very tight games.  In the game against Dave Walker (Levin Central) on the last end he draw a shot and with his second removed the oppositions bowls out of the head for us to get a three and win the game by one said Johnson.  Also in the next game against Rex Holmes (Paraparaumu Beach) both teams ended on the same score after the 18 ends was played and in the extra end to find the winner, Turnbull draw the winning shot.

The win was the 16th Kapiti Centre title for Turnbull.  Selby now has two Kapiti Centre titles after moved to the region only last year.  He has 7 Hawkes Bay titles and Johnson has a Centre title in three different Centres, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu and Kapiti.
