Levin Bowls players Peter Brown and Grahame Law with the help from Central Levin Player Nicky Morgan wins the BKC Junior 2x4x2 event for the second year in a row.
The event was played over 3 days of very challenging weather conditions, especially atrocious wind on Sunday. Also the three days of play was on three different greens, post section being played on the artificial.
Last year’s winners Jenny Watt and Pat Albert now playing for Central Levin were beaten in the quarter finals by Levin Bowls team of Sammie Sweeney and Doug Winter. With Peter Brown and Nicky Morgan winning a very tight game on the other side of the draw meant that Levin Bowls had the possibility of having two teams in the final.
However this wasn’t to be as Sweeney and Winter losing 10-19 after a rain delayed start to Kapiti’s Ted Marshall and Bill Ward. The final was setup between Kapiti and Levin Bowls when Peter Brown and Grahame Law won 20-8 against Brenda Magill and Krys Andrews from Waikanae Bowling Club.
The final was a great game to watch with an amazing comeback from Brown and Law after being down 9-15 with 4 ends to go. After the 15th end the scores were locked at 15 all. In the first extra end Law killed it when they were 1 down, the second extra end was won with some great shots from both Brown and Law, the final score 19-15.
Grahame Law was away playing in the Taranki Fours so Nicky Morgan from Central Levin played as his substitute for the qualifying day on Saturday and one game of post section on Sunday. Brown would like to publicly thank Nicky for his help, playing great bowling to get them into the semis. Morgan was unable to play today because of work commitments.
