As the host club for Rotary this season, the Final Day was held at our club with both greens being used. Really testing conditions for play with a strong wind blowing from the west making accurate weight and line very difficult most of the time. This was really pity, as some visitors with preconceived ideas on how it would play, were faced with taking more green than usual because of the wind, and were not able to appreciate the value of the surface to our club.
One thing was for sure, all players would have enjoyed the wonderful afternoon tea prepared for us by Margaret Lowndes and May KauKau, a wonderful effort from these two club members. Thanks from us all.
Of great interest was the final tally of points and these were as follows:
Winners: Central Levin 69 points followed by Foxton Beach – 67, Levin – 63, Waitarere Beach – 60, RSA – 50 and Shannon – 36.
Thanks go to Joe Johnson from our club who volunteered to organise and run the competition this year and also for selecting our players to represent our club each round. Great job, Joe.
