Our Men’s and Women’s Pairs Champion winners both had a bye in the first round of todays Champion of Champions competition played at Central Levin.
Both Ann and Fred won their 2nd round games but only Ann Malone and Christine got through in their semifinal game against Otaki.
Fred and Omeka needed three to win their match on the final end and things were looking good until the Otaki skip drove. His aim was good and it looked as though the jack was headed for the ditch but it hit a back bowl, bounced back up the green, to give them one shot. Fred was unable to disturb the position and went down after a close game.
Both our teams are to be congratulated on their play and we look forward to a great game tomorrow when Ann and Christine start their final at 9.30am. Let’s all support them in their endeavour to win the Champion of Champion Pairs title.
