It’s been a while since I have done a ‘blog’ and in that time, quite a lot has happened at the club.
I went along to the roll-up on Tuesday, a fine afternoon and the first major change was evident as I walked through the gate. Instead of the artificial green, there was a grey area, a start had been made on the putting down the new Dales surface.
From the bank, it seems a much larger area than the previous green but this is just an illusion. I understand that work was to continue most likely today but as I write, it is raining, something that has been very consistent in recent weeks I have been told.

Next to be seen was that work has been started on painting the clubrooms, something that has been planned to be done for a time but is now under way. The seating around the ground has already been done.
Over to green 2, the cotula green, and it was looking in fine order and a roll-up in the afternoon proved that it is in really great condition for this time of the year.
And the roll-up was very well attended and it was pleasing to see new members on the green.
It was my first game in the new season and it was a great to be back.
Yesterday’s gala had to be put off because of rain. Let’s hope that Saturday is fine for the start of the Men’s Handicap Singles.

Note the painted clubroom and the red facing around the green.
