Singles and Have-A-Go

It was  a busy day at the club today with the Women’s Handicap Singles being completed, and in the afternoon, a chance for locals to try out bowls.

The semifinals played this morning saw Liz Galloway go down to Ra Walker and in the other game, Coral Mills lost to Dianne Short.

By the 12th end in the final, the scores were level at 9 all but from the on, Dianne scored more often than Ra and reached the match target, winning by 21-15.

Conditions were quite windy again in the afternoon for the for visitors to the club trying out bowls . The new Dales green had been completed yesterday and was used for this afternoon’s bowls. The wind and newness of the carpet made it difficult to assess but indications are that it will be an excellent surface for our game.

Fourteen people gave the game a try and all seemed to really enjoy the challenge of the game; four people have signed up as members and two others have taken forms home. Obviously a successful afternoon.

After play, all came into the clubrooms to enjoy the BBQ and have a relaxing time in conversation, no doubt about their play.

Interesting to note that some went back out to continue playing – they must have enjoyed themselves!
