The heading refers to yesterday’s Men’s Interclub results, the Super 7’s playing at Central Levin and the Reserve Sevens playing at Paraparaumu Beach. Our Women’s Reserve 7’s had a bye in the morning and then played at the Kapiti Club against the Paraparaumu Beach Team.
We left Levin in the morning with the sky very gray, and it looked as though the weather we had on Saturday was going to be repeated. When we returned in the late afternoon, we were told that this had been so. In contrast, the men had a reasonable morning and the afternoon had the sun shining, just like we expect at this time of the year.
Out top men’s 7’s had a very successful day with 5 wins and a draw. The morning round was against Paraparaumu Blue and Levin had 2 wins and a draw. The games were close; David Walker beat Ray Boffa 25-22, the Pairs won 16/15 and the Fours scored a 4 then a 3 on the last two ends to get a draw.
The afternoon games were against Waikanae and our 3 teams each won their game.
Our Men’s Reserves also did well. the morning round was against Waikanae and the Singles and Fours won. The Pairs went down with a close score.
Barry Cross in his Singles game was well in front but you never know what will happen in bowls. In this game, Barry looked to be in danger of losing the game but he finally got to 25 points to take out the win. Our Fours team played steady bowls and were never in danger of losing their game.
Central Levin were our opponents in t h afternoon round and again we had 2 wins and a loss.
Barry again had a good win and our 4’s team got off with a good lead and never looked in danger of losing their game. Fred and Rex again had a close match but just went down at the end.
Our women’s team played Paraparaumu Red at the Kapiti Bowling Club, the Singles and Fours both going down to their opponents but Ann Malone and Alice Spicer got a win in the Pairs. They will be determined to achieve a better result in the next rounds.
When I have the full results, I will put the two charts on the web page so we can see where our teams are placed overall.
Note that tomorrow after the Roll-up and Pennants games, the first round of Grants Corner to Corner Competition commences. No entry fee, and a chance to win the sponsors product. Should be good fun.
