I’ve returned after being away for the weekend and have just been checking up on all the activities that took place over the weekend.
When I left town on Saturday it was raining, so I presumed the day would have been a ‘washout!” I was quite surprised to hear that the Christmas Gala was played on both greens.
Results were as follows:
On the Dales Carpet.
1st Gordon Buick’s team with 4 wins and 22 ends
2nd Bruce Shand’s team with 3 wins and 22 ends
3rd Josie Cootes’s team with 3 wins and 16 ends
On the Cotula Green:
1st John Mears’s team with 4 wins and 25 ends
2nd Dave Walker’s team with 3 wins and 23 ends
34d Ralph Bellow’s team with 3 wins and 22 ends.
Interesting to note that there was only 1 team on each green to win all their games.
Sunday saw further playing in our Men’s Open Singles with Dave Walker taking out the title. (Dave has already won the KCBC’s Open Singles and we now hope he can complete things with a win in the Champion of Champion Singles to be held in March 2011

To complete the day, 64 meals were served in the evening with Club Members taking part in a Christmas Get Together. This was followed by Fred entertaining with his music.
The final bit of news was that Pennants, which were to be held tomorrow, have had to be postponed because the weather has made greens unavailable for play.
