At lunch time yesterday at the Mixed Triples Gala at our club, it seemed that a common question around where I was sitting was ‘How are you going’, and the common answer was ‘one and one’. Strange, as usually there is sat least one team with two wins after the morning’s play. Perhaps they were sitting well away from our area.
In our first game, my team lost to Dianne and then we reversed our form and won our next game against Fred. Whether the gusty wind had anything to do with the way games were turning out or was it just … who knows!
In our third game we started well but after a few ends things changed with the result, another loss.
I noted when looking at the results board that one of the top teams had failed to score in one of their games which shows you just never know how things will turn out.
By the end of the day’s play, no team had managed to will all of their games, so ends won decided the placings for prizes.
1st David & RA Walker and Lynne Metcalfe with 3 wins, 20 ends and 40 points.
2nd Murray Griffin, Claire Ward and Vern Murphy – 3 wins, 19 ends and 33 points
3rd Brian Furness, Liz Gardiner and Ian Upston – 3 wins, 17 ends and 35 points.
