By all accounts, the Queen’s Birthday Mixed Pairs Gala was a very successful event and the club thanks all who took part in organising the 2 day event, and those who took part.
I wasn’t able to view any of the play but have been told that a full green of 16 teams took part with the players coming from 9 different clubs.
The weather was typical for winter, Saturday being OK and Sunday having some showers.
At the end of day one, Gary Wylie and Dot Collis from Central Levin were the top qualifiers. To find the overall winners, the second day saw the teams put into four sections depending on their results from day one and the results were:
A Section :
1st – G Wylie and D Collis (Central)
2nd – D & R Walker (Levin)
3rd – S Boxall and M Griffin (Levin)
B Section:
1st – H Yee and L Cooper (Whitby)
C Section
1st – D Short and O Feaunati (Levin)
D Section – J Swift and A Carides (Kapiti)
Today saw the sun shine on our afternoon Gala, a full green, and three rounds played to find the following winners:
1st – P Wickstrom, G Virtue, M Heather with 3 wins and 16 ends.
2nd – R Walker, D Walker, M Griffin
