President Ken Hayward
It was the club’s AGM today and 10.00am saw President Ken Hayward open proceedings. There were about 50 members present at this, the club’s 104th AGM.
All members had recently received last year’s AGM minutes and as well, the President’s and Treasurer’s reports on the current season.
All were received and after discussion, accepted by members, who all appreciated the progress the club had made both on and off the greens.
In the next day or so, I will add to our Web site, the results of the Election of Officers, Notices of Motion results and other points raised during General Business.
Following the meeting, an excellent light lunch was put on and our thanks go to those who prepared and presented it to us.
And the sun shone, so in the afternoon, the first post-section match was played between Fred Adam’s and Christine Ryan’s Mixed Fours teams. Early play saw the scores close but after being 7 all, Ken’s team drew ahead and eventually won the game. This leaves four teams remaining in the competition and matches will be played soon once dates have been set.
Others not involved in the match, played in the afternoon roll-up and it was a pleasure playing in the sunshine. All seemed to have had good games and players will be able to tell of the skills they showed or saw played during the afternoon, if asked.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, will see a 2x4x2 gala played, starting at 9.30am. Let’s hope that this afternoon’s skills will be repeated during the day.
