Wild weather and woolly clothing was the feature of this Saturday afternoon’s roll-up.
Twenty-two ‘dedicated’ club members turned out to play, ignoring the very strong and gusty westerly wind which was a real test of the player’s judgement.
If only you could rely on the wind being constant, but this wasn’t so, which mean that one bowl played could be either short or too long, mainly depending on the wind strength at the time.
Bringing a big smile to our players was when Omeka knocked Don’s short bowl up to become the shot, right beside the Jack. We are not sure whether Don felt this was not the way his bowl should become the shot – his next delivery into the wind took out his “shot” bowl.
Afternoon tea was a nice break and only the real keen ones continued on.
The photo below shows two players, wrapped up and ready to go after the break. I actually took the photo to show that the lights around the Domain where the rugby finals were being played, were all on. It really wasn’t dark – perhaps the game needed brightening up.
Vern and Bill, well wrapped up and into the game.
