Coaching At The Club

This Sunday afternoon, about 70 bowlers from the Kapiti Centre took the opportunity to receive some coaching from Sharon Sims, the Central Development Coach.

She started the afternoon indoors discussing the often neglected part of many players bowling, the use of the brain.

Players then went onto the green to see if they could carry into their play, some of the areas covered.

Sharon Sims outlining the rules

Teams bowled to a variety of targets at the other end of the green, putting into practice what they had learnt; rules were given and then the challenge was to get their bowls onto the target area.  Another variety of testing their skills was to play a bowling version of Noughts and Crosses. A very good game and players soon showed their skills while at the same time, had fun.

The squares were the targets for Noughts and Crosses. In one of them, successful bowls can be seen. As in the real game, the target was to get three in a line. Sounds difficult but teams soon managed it. A real challenge.

It was obvious that fun as well as learning was a feature of the afternoon.
