Unbelievable Sky

The weather report had mentioned a change to rain and even thunder but when we started playing Rotary this afternoon at the Central Bowling Club, the sun was out and there was no sign of bad weather.

We played our first round of 10 ends, went and had afternoon tea and then came out to play our second game.

It was then that we noticed the black sky building over the Tararuas and it slowly approached closer.

I went out to my car and got my umbrella, just to be prepared if I needed to make a quick run for shelter, but as it happened, we got no more that a few spots and as time passed, so did the storm as it moved away to the south.

I have since heard that our other two teams, playing at Shannon which is much closer to the Ranges, had a downpour after playing part of their second games and they had to end their play for the afternoon. It appears also that it came close to town on the east side but it was as if a line was there which the storm was not allowed to pass. Quite strange.

As for the result of todays Rotary, our two teams at Shannon had 2 wins and a draw, while at Levin we only had 1win and a draw.

Not the best of results but still more rounds to come with time to improve.
