Horowhenua 5’s Final

Lodzia and the Shield

Today was the final meeting of the clubs which have taken part in the Horowhenua 5’s. This was just a social afternoon because the winning club had been decided after the last playing day.
Instead of the usual format, this afternoon each club had two fours teams, and two games of eight ends were played.
It was the first time I have played at Manakau for many years and it was quite a surprise because more often than not, I had heard that the green was not really up to standard. Instead, I found it was running quite well and was certainly a great improvement from the days I had previously played there.
Today’s results were not important, and once the games were over, teams went inside for afternoon tea and the presentation of the 5’s Shield to the winning club.
Our club had its teams picked over the season by Lodzia, and it was appropriate the she should receive the Shield as it was our Levin Club that was the winner.
Many thanks Lodzia, for your work over the season, giving various players a chance to take part in the 5″s, an event which has been enjoyed by all.
