Ends Won

Our annual St Pats Gala was held on Wednesday and it was disappointing that only 10 teams entered, all from our club. In previous years it has been a very popular gala but it appears that another club held a gala on the same day which might be one reason for the shortage of teams.

It still turned out to be a good day for bowls, fine weather and good challenges between teams.

The winning of the event counted on the number of ends the three teams with three wins had at the end of the day.

Our team skipped by Susan all day, entered the last game being the only one with three wins, but we were outplayed by Stafford, Marion and Jan. Two other teams in this last round, both of which we had beaten earlier in the day, won their last game, giving them 3 wins. So the deciding factor in the placings for prize was the number of ends won during the day. That certainly didn’t help us as we got thrashed by Stafford’s team.

Seems ironic that we ended up third to two teams that we had beaten earlier in the day. Audrey Sciascia’s and Fred’s teams. Shows the importance of ends won in these games.

No posting yet by the Centre of the results from Pennants played on Tuesday. Our club had 3 wins and 1 loss against Paraparaumu on the RSA green and our other two teams had 2 wins and 2 losses at Waikanae. I will post our overall position once I get them off the Centre site.
