Paraparaumu Beach Bowling Club had a Men’s and Women’s team playing in the finals today at Central Levin.
It was of special interest to our club as our Women’s Pairs Champions, Ra and Margaret had also reached the finals so we had a good number of members at Central to watch the games.
About to start the Final
Marilyn and Berenice from Paraparaumu and Ra and Margaret, our team.
Our girls got off to a good start and in the early stages, both teams kept in touch, but as the ends drew on, the Paraparaumu team slowly took command and ended the game with one end to play, the score at 21-13. Our congratulations to their players. Equally, we congratulate our team on getting to the final.
The men’s final had the Paraparaumu team, skipped by Ray Boffa, playing the team from Waikanae that yesterday, had a close win against our men’s team in the first round.
The final turned out to be a very one sided game as far as the result went; I didn’t really watch much of their game but the Paraparaumu lead seemed to be on the Jack most of the time and Ray also played some outstanding shots.
With such a big lead from his opponents, the Waikanae skip called it a day with still a few ends to play.
A disappointment no doubt for them, but they had reached the final, worth praise for that.
And congratulations of course go to the Paraparaumu team on its outstanding play.
