In The Final

Great news – our Pairs Champions, Ra and Margaret, have reached the final and will be playing tomorrow at 10.00am against the Paraparaumu pair.

Our ladies had a bye in the first round and then got into action against a pair from Waikanae Beach. They got well ahead and didn’t need to play the final 21st end.

In their next game which was against Paekakariki, they were doing well with a lead  of 16-10. It was then that real pressure came on our girls but they were able to survive the last end with the winning score 16-15. That must have been real pressure.  Tomorrow, the big day.

We had also seen in the morning real pressure in our men’s pairs game. Fred and Omeka were playing the Waikanae team and throughout that game they were taking turns it seemed, to be leading on the scoreboard.

So it came to the last end – 20 ends played and the score was 20 all. Both leads had a turn at holding the shot but in the end it became necessary for Fred to take out the opponents two bowls holding shot. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen successfully and our pair had lost. A very close and interesting game to watch.

The Final End

The Leads Bowls – Waikanae Red, Levin Blue.

Two shots to Waikanae

It was pleasing to see lots of our club members watching the games played throughout the day. Let’s hope the weather improves so we can view tomorrow’s game. All the best Ra and Margaret.
