Really a great afternoon for a game this afternoon, sun shining, no wind and players keen to play the game they enjoy. Lots of laughter – perhaps Brian leading the way with his little dance step when changing ends late in his game brought out the loudest.
One point raised at the AGM was to see if the rinks on the artificial green could be played North and South instead of the usual East, West system.
It was agreed to do this but it was pointed out that there could be a problem with the bank rinks not allowing bowls to draw properly because of all the deliveries that have been played from there for so long and could cause a problem.
I was drawn to play on the outside rink today and it turned out that we were getting a good draw on the bank side, in fact more than on the green side. It appears that the envisaged problem will in fact not occur.
Tomorrow, Sharon Sims will be at the club in the afternoon taking a coaching session – bowlers are invited to attend and take part.
Below are two of this afternoon’s bowlers, playing on rink one and playing the bank hand with confidence.
