Sad to hear that Hilda Mullaney passed away in Auckland today. It was back in 1994 that Hilda and Jim joined our club after arriving in Levin. They had been members of the St Albans Club in Christchurch. Hilda’s daughter Maureen Neely and her husband Bob, also joined us in that year and they were with us for many years, contributing both on and off the green.
Hilda was 92 when I took her photo and not long after, she moved to Auckland where she had family. There are still some present members, who will remember Hilda and Jim with fond memories and we are sad to her of her passing.
Tomorrow at the club will be a Region Two Green Keepers’ Meeting with about 70 members attending.
Following an early cup of tea and welcome, a wide range of topics will be covered related to many of the factors that are important for clubs to have excellent playing surfaces.
I called into the club this morning and it was good to see the clubroom looking well prepared for the occasion.
